My snares

Bio

Hi PE, tell me, when did you start playing drums?

I started in secondary 2 at the Polyvalente Benoît-Vachon in Sainte-Marie de Beauce in music-studies.

What were your first musical influences and how have they evolved over time?

Very young I was a music lover, I did folk dance for almost 5 years before touching my first drums.  I listened to a lot of rock, hardcore and punk rock. After my studies at Laval University in jazz, I shaped my style. I wanted to find an identity for myself. I consider myself a versatile musician and chameleon.

Tell us about your first experiences in a band? How old were you ?

I started playing drums at the age of  12, I had a band called "Burial Faith" in Ste-Marie de Beauce and then I played in the bands "The All Stars and “Tailor Made Fable.”

Is there a memorable show in your career?

  • The Summer Festival on the Plains of Abraham with Gabrielle Shonk in the summer of 2018.

  • Les Francofolies de Montréal with Hubert Lenoir in front of 50,000 people in the summer of 2022.

  • The Staples Center in Los Angeles with the band Tailor Made Fable in 2009.

What are you doing now ?

My current projects are with:

Lou Adriane Cassidy

Keith Kouna

Ping Pong Go

Rémi Chassé

Hubert Lenoir

Ariane Roy

Finally, you have two caisses-snares by Luka Drums, tell me, what made you lean towards these choices?

I immediately fell in love with this snare drum. (14 X 5 X ⅜ curly maple) I think Luka Drums is in a class of its own. I really liked the thickness of the shell with the “acoustics rings”. Since the snare drum is thin, it resonates much more. The stainless  rims are so well done. It is a very versatile snare drum, it sounds great in styles: jazz, rock, country and folk.

Just before leaving with my maple snare, Luka Coulombe wanted me to try a little popcorn snare. (10 X 5 X ⅝ in beech) After a few Drum'n'Bass beats, I decided to go with it. I had never heard a snare so close to the Reggae, Hip Hop and Drum'n'Bass sound that I had been looking for for years. I'm super happy to have it now in my arsenal. A must have !
